Sugarloaf Volunteer System Update #4
Onshore support is vital for any extended sail into the unknown and the prep work of Julie B., Jeff and Adam is fulfilling that requirement splendidly. Soon you who will become the crew (on the volunteers’ list) will be able to signup online. Therefore, this update has its focus on more clarification about the vehicles for how you choose to participate in the sailing venture (by way of the System’s signups.) For the trial voyage, we start with a list of those who do not have an ongoing volunteer job right now. To make a choice, can be by selecting one or more from the five vehicles, but with the expectation you will only need to do a task that fits one of your choices (or if you choose to use the Action Box for your volunteering turn.) Remember the whole list will take turns doing one task each until all have completed a turn (no matter how many hats you are able to wear.)
The Self-directed Action Box Projects is for volunteers that sees a problem to be solved or plans to create an event that would enhance our Sugarloaf community life. If you sign up for this vehicle, you would become a free agent who doesn’t want an invitation for a task. Instead you would fill out a card to go into the Action Box on the window sill at the bottom of the indoor stairs. The relevant committee would give the go-ahead for the project. Example –the completion of the Yurt’s chair slipcovers
The Call Later signups would be those whose present lives make it impossible to respond to an invitation to do a task in the near future. This choice holds the promise that the volunteer will be receptive to taking his/her turn at a later date when s/he is able to give the time and effort. Example – when there is a family crisis Now begins the choices for those who want a specific task that s/he would be invited to do.
“Willing to Help” means a person is signing-up to take on any task s/he is capable of doing. Example – Maybe a person has carpentry skills and can help fix something during a Work Day at Sugarloaf.
“Can Work On-Site” volunteers prefer tasks actually on our property. Example – gardening and houseplant care
“Can work at home” is for those tasks that require a sewing machine or computer, etc. Example – for research on acoustic tiles for the Sound Dampening Task Force
We set sail to leave the dock when all of us are registered by September 20! (after we tell you how to do it.)
Please try on a new volunteer hat. September 20 is our deadline to sign up.
